Whom do I contact for information on the final disposal of radioactive waste? How can I get an appointment to visit the final repository for radioactive waste at Morsleben?
On October 8, 2003, the Federal Office for Radiation Protection (BfS) started the preventive backfilling of selected cavities. These measures are to ensure the long-term stability of the mine and are to be completed by 2010.
Due to the backfill work there is only limited access to the mine. If you would like to visit the ERAM in Morsleben, please call the following number to make an appointment:
03018 / 3 33 - 1155
BfS is responsible for all safety and organisational matters. For liability reasons, we have to request that all visitors submit their names in advance. BfS likes to point out that you can only participate in a subsurface visit if you are in good health and reserves the right to restrict participation to those persons who have made a prior appointment.
You can obtain further information on all questions concerning the Morsleben repository at the information centre, which is being run on behalf of BfS. Opening hours are:
Monday to Friday, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Visits outside the given period are possible upon appointment.
